Can I get birth control or the emergency contraceptive pill at your office?

OPTIONS does not offer clinical services, so we can not prescribe birth control. But we do offer free condoms and free pregnancy testing.  We also sell female condoms and dental dams at a reduced price.

How old do you have to be to get birth control pills? Do I need parental permission?

In Canada, if you are at least 14 years of age you can get birth control without your parent's consent. You can get a prescription for hormonal methods of birth control from your family doctor, medical (walk-in) clinic, or at many sexual health agencies.

I think I have a sexually transmitted disease but I don't know where to go and get tested for the infection. Also I don't know who to ask for help.

You can go for testing at the STD Clinic. The STD clinic is located at the General Hospital building which is located at 11111 Jasper Avenue Edmonton. Why is learning about sexual health issues important for immigrants and refugees?

Learning about sexual health issues in Canada is very important. For example, learning English words for male and female sexual body parts is very important for newcomers who are learning English. This knowledge helps the person communicate more effectively with their doctor.
